Artist's biography
Cultural Origin: Te-Moak from Western Shoshone to Nevada
Micqaela grew up on the Shoshone and Paiute Nations Indian Reserve, located 160 km northeast of Elko, Nevada, on the border with Idaho. Her youth was rich in visual experiences. She spent her days hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of Nevada's outdoors with her sister and two brothers. It was only later, as an adult, that Micqaela began painting and exhibiting her work in various art shows around the country, such as the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Eiteljorg Museum Indian Market, the Autry Museum in Los Angeles, and Cherokee Art.
Today, Micqaela continues to work on new ideas, new paintings and new techniques. Her work has evolved into an interweaving of her Shoshone culture and contemporary expressions, resulting in vivid and colorful paintings.
