Biography of the artist:

Jim Oskinigeesh

Cultural Origin: Ojibway, Eabametoong First Nation, Ontario

Jim Oskineegish is an Ojibway artist who is a member of the
Eabametoong
First Nation,
located in northwestern Ontario, Canada. Jim paints in the Woodland shamanic style using bold lines and bright colours. He enjoys painting the legends and stories of his people and hopes that his art can fill a universal understanding of love, faith and unity. "I want to promote the positive culture of

to the world."

Jim has a post-secondary education in the visual arts and has developed his own unique and distinctive style. If Jim can evoke a response or emotion from the viewer, then he feels he has succeeded in the world of contemporary art. While attending Lakehead University, he received the Mentoring Experience Award at the Lakehead University Student Art Exhibition in 1990-92. Subsequently, he received the

Society of
Architects
Award at the
Lakehead Student Art Exhibition in 1991-92
